Fre Atlast, P.O.O.K Community Drumming

Fre Atlast is a Hudson Valley musician, multi-instrumental performer, producer, and community teaching artist based in Rosendale. A lifelong drummer and educator, she leads inclusive rhythm, instrument-making, and creative-expression programs for people of all ages, from young children to older adults. Her community-centered approach invites every participant to find their voice through percussion, movement, and collective music-making.

P.O.O.K. Community Drumming Class is an intergenerational music experience where children, teens, adults, and families come together to learn, create, and perform through rhythm. Participants explore hand drumming, percussion techniques, world rhythms, and ensemble playing in a welcoming environment where musicians of all experience levels can contribute.

Students build listening skills, coordination, confidence, and a sense of connection as they learn to play together as one percussion orchestra. The class offers meaningful opportunities to share music beyond the classroom through performances and community events throughout the Hudson Valley. P.O.O.K. celebrates the joy of collective music-making while helping participants find their rhythm, express themselves, and strengthen community across generations.
